Introduction

Digital hardcore legends Atari Teenage Riot have reformed! The band is an institution in electro punk and have come to release Riot In Japan, the ultimate protest album of the Google age. Alec Empire’s collective of Berlin hardcore dissenters is figurehead of a new generation of German techno artists seaking to reconnect music with political radicalism through ever more challenging, experimental hybrids, engaging everything from dubstep to speed metal, from acid to jungle and hardcore punk. And there´s the story of Julian Assange and Alec Empire, with Wikileaks and Anonymous. Check out the Black Flags clip! ATR’s sound is instantly recognizable for their brash, noisy fusions of brittle, 200-plus-bpm breaks, massive guitar riffs, and a good deal of shouting. And ATR are indeed still producing some of their music on an Atari Computer from the 80´s with 2MB RAM (yes, 2 Megabytes!). There’s one word that definitely does not appear in any of the books in Alec Empire’s library and that’s “compromise”... The new ATR 3.0 live show is featuring MC Rowdy Superstar from London.
